Welcome to The La Salle Club, a fundraising organization of volunteers and supporters from the Christian Brothers community who have worked and donated since 1939 to support our student athletes.
Today, The La Salle Club helps CB Athletics with expenses outside of their budget via three fundraising activities: a membership drive in the spring, the CB Family and Friends Golf Tournament in the summer, and The La Salle Club Sacramento Area Baseball Hall of Fame Dinner in the winter.
As a CB alumnus, I've been aware of the LSC for many years. But I was especially drawn to work on its behalf after gaining a much fuller appreciation of its impact and longevity while working on the CB Archives site (cbarchives.org). Archives founder, Jerry Kirrene '53, had collected and documented an amazing number of photos and programs from LSC events over many decades. (His dad served on the LSC board for 39 years!) In the many black and white photos, the smiling or determined faces of the volunteers or attendees reflect the same value we share today; that the giving of time, treasure, and/or labor on behalf of CB's student athletes is a worthy cause.
Serving on The La Salle Club board has been a source of fun, satisfaction, and community. I'm grateful for the time, support and efforts of our board members and our day-of-event volunteers. Thank you! Together, we still carry-on a mission 85 years since its inception!
